Difference between body height and maximum body height

Body height

The vertical distance from the floor to the vertex (the highest point on the head in the mid-sagittal plane) is measured with an anthropometer. The subject stands fully erect with the feet together. The head is orientated in the Frankfurt plane.

Maximum Body Height

The vertical distance from the floor to the vertex (the highest point on the head in the mid-sagittal plane) is measured with a stadiometer. The subject stands fully erect with his/her back against the vertical pillar of the stadiometer, with the feet together. The head is orientated in the Frankfurt plane. Usually, the maximum body height is greater than the body height by 1 to 2 cm.
