- * Marker-less measurement of human motion
- Measuring human motion, a method using markers put on the
body surface have been used generally for biomechanics, ergonomics
and computer graphics. We developed a new measurement method
without markers. In the present method, a human geometric model
is fitted into the human video image and joint angles and locations
are taken from the fitted model posture. Two dimensional gait
motion and standing-up motion could be measured without markers.
It takes about 20 sec per frame by a personal computer.

of unconstrained motion using a model-matching method, Ergonomics,

- * Shape similarity of body forms using Free Form Deformation
- The Free Form Deformation technique; the control lattice
points are defined around the object form and the form is deformed
by moving the control points. We use the technique for shape
similarity of human body forms. The moving vectors of the FFD
control points are calculated to deform the original form into
the target form. The vectors represent a distortion pattern of
the original form and the target form and shape similarity of
them are characterized from the vectors. Using this technique,
we can evaluate the shape similarity of human body forms and
utilize a clustering of foot forms, trunk forms and so on. It
is a basic technique for determination shoe sizes and cloths
sizes.
